Hello,

Thank you for the useful information,

can you name casinos that became restricted due to this IP blockage, please?

It didn't happen to me yet. They don't block the casino. They block the players IP address. But I asked OneCasino. I play with them for nearly 5 years. They have a Malta license and have been one of the first Casinos to comply with the new german laws . Last week I explained it to them that even they do play by the rules, the Malta license is illegal in Germany. Do they have a plan in place if players can't access the site anymore? Can I still deposit?

They gave me a honest answer. They said they can't give me a honest answer.

Fair enough. I can't remember a case in the last 5 years where this casino lied to me.🤷🏼‍♂️

On the GambleJoe forum is a big discussion on this topic. But it's more about players looking for ways not to make a deposit from Germany using Banktransfer like Sofort or Giropay.

Because the bank might refuses the transfer to a Casino account. If they do, they report it to the authorities. With that information the authorities can then decide to block the players IP address or not. It's all a bit messy right now, that's why I wrote it MIGHT happens to players and not that it will happen

I think it's getting worse every day on the German market. I can already see that many players don't want to play in casinos licensed in Germany (or casinos that are waiting for the license) simply because they don't like the new rules. We can't blame them for it. What kind of player would prefer to have the RTP decreased by more than 5%?

There was a 1 year test phase for Casinos considering getting a license. When the authorities had the laws ready, one of the first Provider leaving the German market was Ladbrokes. The World's biggest sport betting provider. They had one look at the laws, shouted " Bullshit" and left

Bgaming had their slot and games catalog approved by the German authorities. . That's great for Bgaming but completely useless if the casino they supplied the slots to has not the license. But it will get even more confusing for everyone because ' Glücksspiel ' ( casinos, Bingo halls, sports betting, national lottery, ) landbased or online is regulated by the 16 states locally.

I live in North rihne Westfalia and provider can apply for an extra licence to offer Live Casino games. However, only to players from NRW. Players from Saxony or Bavaria can't not play the live games and the casino can't advertise it in the other states.

This is where the GGL comes into play. It's the Job of the GGL as Authority for online gambling to oversee all this. 16 states, and all can make their own extra regulations. This is going to be so much fun. I give the GGL about 2 years.

Well, you make made me laugh for a while. 😁

It's just a question of time when this fun became a mess.

Let's say that the German market will soon become so over-regulated that players will lose the sense of which site is truly legal to who or what is legal at all.

I empathize with german players because making the odds against them is not how the government should enforce protection. As Daniel wrote, no wonder they're leaving German licensed casinos and fleeing to the unlicensed to avoid this "protection". 🙁

Anyway, I think it make a better sense because this GGL would became the one an only superviser and control body, the way I see it. More centralized - let's see how this will work.

2 years you say? Would you bet on it? 🙂

I would like to know how they intend to protect gambler against manipulation..

Anyway, sounds very worthy to me. 🙂

Damn, I was always wondering what was up with the German market compared to the "properly" (simply?) regulated ones like Switzerland or Belgium. I never found any clear info about it.

Looks like a real knots bag and a lot of direct power to the authorities, good luck with that for the future.

A part of me always wishes the French market to start being regulated to help clarify a bit the mess of unregulated websites, but when I read that now..... 🥲

It's gonna be fun to watch it, but not for the German players who want to obey the law and prefer to feel protected by the government. The problem is that those protections completely ruin your casino experience so you end up paying for something that isn't even worth the money.

For me, live casino is the most appealing and entertaining product in online casinos. If you take it away from the players, then the biggest fun is gone forever.

I'm actually thinking that having an affiliate business based on promoting VPN services to German casino players, sportsbetting fans etc. could be a decent business 😀

The thing with doing great things online, like monitoring all online gambling activities, is you need a strong and stable connection. Just last week the tax office launched its new site for home and property owners too fil in their Data because there are changes how properties get taxed. The sites lasted about 3 hours. Look at any charts comparing internet speed by countries. .

After 2 years they going to take stock, wondering why only 2 licenses got issued ( Merkur and Novomatic). A team of special investigators starts a investigation. About 18 months later they finished and say the same thing Ladbrokes did . The whole thing is Bullshit. But we learned from our mistakes and go straight into it making a better GGL 2 0

One set of regulation for all EU member states would be great. Just a few months ago the EU parliament voted in favour for a new legislation be put in place that outlaws anonymous crypto transactions across the EU, makings every transaction from a selfhosted wallet illegal and both accounts involved suspects in fraud. Even if it's Mum sending 20€ to son or daughter 🤷🏼‍♂️ It took the parliament just a few hours to agree.

Yeah that was something to be expected clearly - crypto anonymity is still far from being a real thing anyway. And when they want seems like the EU lawmakers can definitely take decisions quickly ahah.

As you say an EU basis for Gambling regulations would be great to create, that might create a positive regional competition on this market - with then some small specificities for each countries on top of that (I don't see the FDJ in France easily giving up their monopoly on scratchcards and lotteries).

That reminds me of when we experienced the new way of using online traffic inspectorate services, online registrations, and less bureaucracy!

Well, for the first week nobody could access it and the building was overwhelmed by drivers 😀 because the system "was not working". During the first month, they realized that the system could use more stability, so they came up with an update. I think you can guess what happened after that. Yep - the malfunction.

Anyway, let's see what this GGL brings for a brighter future.
