After review, we have decided not to uphold your complaint and the details for why are below. With chargebacks for gambling transactions, we only have chargeback rights for when the funds are not credited into your gambling wallet. As such, we cannot raise these through the chargeback scheme. I appreciate you feel as you didn't give the card details to the merchant and no service was provided by them directly that you can raise a chargeback, however as you mentioned these are the payment companies that the casino uses, as such they will have been provided through the casino. I've raised this to the fraud team to review as if we were to look at the transactions as unauthorized by yourself which you mentioned, this could be classified as a scam. They have completed their review and found that we would not be looking to provide any refund as at no point would Chase have identified the merchant as a Crypto merchant. MasterCard have not recognized the merchant as a Crypto merchant which is reflected in the merchant category code. This is a code decided by MasterCard and the merchant, as we have no control over the Merchant Category Code we would not be able to provide a refund through this avenue either. You have mentioned that you have difficulty controlling your gambling spending and raised this with GamStop to put blocks in place with gambling merchants. This is not something we are made aware of and is directly communicated between GamStop and gambling merchants. This does not include all gambling merchants and would need to be raised with GamStop directly to find out if the casino used is included on their registered merchants. I appreciate this is not the outcome you wanted. Going forward, I would like to make you aware of our gambling control feature in the app where you will be able to block transactions for merchants that have the gambling merchant category code. I understand that in this instance the merchants used a different category code and our gambling block would not stop these, but we can report the merchants to MasterCard with evidence showing that they are providing alternative services than what their category code suggests. This will allow MasterCard to investigate this further and amend with the merchants. An alternative option for the merchants who use misleading category codes would be to disable your online transactions as this would block all online transactions. The final option we would have would be to close your Chase account if you feel none of these are able to support your needs or keep your funds secure.
Help please I don't know what to do now...
